Vaishnaw, Pradhan launch 5G services in Odisha

Union Minister for Communications, Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan launched the 5G telephony services in Odisha on Thursday.

The Union Ministers launched the 5G services during a programme at SOA Campus-2, Bhubaneswar.

Telecom companies Jio and Airtel have made necessary arrangements to provide 5G network in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and several other towns in the State.


Earlier, Union Minister Vaishnaw had said that 5G services will be launched in Odisha

before January 26 at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the redevelopment of Bhubaneswar Railway Station here.

He had also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision is to build 5G parallel to global standards and lead the world in 6G technology.

Notably, the fifth generation or 5G services, which began on a trial basis in October 2022, has been launched in selected cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Delhi, and Mumbai in the initial phase.

Capable of supporting ultra-high-speed internet, the 5G service is expected to unleash new economic opportunities and societal benefits, serving as a transformational force across the country.
