“We basically provide swimming training of four styles. They are backstroke, freestyle, butterfly, and breaststroke,” said an INS official.

The official said girls are being trained in breaststroke swimming as it is the easiest style of swimming. Out of 273 girls, 138 have already passed tests.

An Agniveer, who has already cleared the test and is waiting for his certificate, said he feels proud to serve the country as an Agniveer. “I have cleared the 4-month training. I will move back to my place of posting in two or three days,” he said.

He hailed the Agniveer scheme adopted by the Central Government for Army. “After four years of service to nations, I will be finding a job in the civil area where I will find an opportunity to make my fellowmen learn discipline in the country’s interest,” said he.

A passing out parade will be organized at the INS Chilika on March 28. After this, the pass-out Agniveers will be inducted into the Indian Navy.
