Bhubaneswar: A coordination meeting for the fast-approaching famous Rukuna Rath Yatra of Lord Shree Lingaraj was held here yesterday.
Local MLA and Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Mayor Sulochana Das, Additional District Magistrate Prafulla Swain, servitors of the Mandir Nijog, and Energy Department officials were present.
The much-awaited Rukuna Rath Yatra will be held on the Ashokashtami Titi of the current Chaitra month on March 29.
According to information, various issues were discussed and all line departments vowed to provide coordination for the smooth conduct of the Rath Yatra, which is likely to be witnessed by lakhs of devotees.
It was known that logs, needed for the construction of the Rath (chariot), reached Rath Khala late this year. Thus, the beginning of Rath's construction work has also been delayed. Maharana servitors, who were also present, assured that the chariot would be constructed on time.
While the Rath Yatra will be organized on March 29, the Bahuda Yatra (Return Sojourn) will be held on April 2.
As per the primary rituals scheduled, Mangal Alati of Lord Lingaraj will be conducted at 5 am on the Rath Yatra day. The Lord will be escorted in a grand procession and board the chariot at 1.30pm.
During both Rukuna Rath Yatra and Bahuda Yatra, electricity transmission will be snapped in the concerned area for the safety of devotees. Two fire service vehicles will be kept ready, while ambulance and Mo Bus services will be available adequately. A tight security arrangement will be put in place by the Odisha police.
