Dhenkanal, Mar 29: Diarrhoea has spread its tentacles and taken a toll in Dhenkanal district even as it is still affecting people in the Hirakud area in Sambalpur district.
According to the information, two people have died of diarrhoea in Nayabhagirathipur village under the Odapada block in Dhenkanal district. The deceased persons have been identifeid as Chuna Dehuriu and Chungula Dehuri. More than 20 persons are still undergoing treatment at a hospital.
About 10 days back, over 100 people were affected in diarrhoea in the nearby Kharagaprasad area.
It may be noted that three people have already died and about 200 affected in diarrhoea in the Hirakud area of Sambalpur district.
While the spread of the water-borne disease has not been controlled, the public health department has sat silent over it.
